MY TIPS FOR FINISHING YOUR CREATIVE PROJECTS
My second quilt: a gift for my grandma, who loves yellow. What a gift to be able to weave love and care into the stitches and know that she’s wrapping herself up in it at home!
How do you finish your creative projects?
For me, the beginning is exciting and fresh. It often feels like a combination of the Ace of Wands and the Magician. The idea pours into me Big Magic style, and there’s usually both excitement and urgency to spill it out of me: onto the page, onto the fabric, etc.
But the messy middle can sometimes be a slog. The inspiration of beginning may have worn off and the “I can see the finish line” energy isn’t here yet. How do we get through the middle to finish the things we want to finish? (Knowing that every project doesn’t need to be finished, either.)
How do we still enjoy (and/or be present with) the process when we’re dragging through?
Everyone is different, of course. But here is some of what works for me when it comes to finishing creative projects. Hope it helps!
